The most common materials are PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or PET (polyethylene terephthalate, a polyester). The plastic is calendared and perforated with thousands of holes for light transmittance, with a clear solvent acrylic adhesive and a PE-coated paper liner.

It depends on the film. Our short-term films are guaranteed for up to 12 months, the panoRama Innova series for up to 24 months, and our polymeric panoRama films for up to five years outdoors. Laminating the graphic, or using it indoors, will extend its life further.

Clean the substrate so it is free from dirt and lint. Peel off the one-way vinyl backing liner and line up the vinyl to the window. Stick it down and work in strokes from the middle out using a squeegee held at a 45-degree angle. For outdoor graphics, laminate before installing and trim neatly to the edge of the glass.

Not in the same way. The effect relies on it being brighter outside than inside, so once it's dark outside and the lights are on indoors, people outside can see in and the graphic is less visible. If night-time privacy matters, it's worth pairing with blinds.

Rain can fill the perforations and blur the view from inside until the glass dries. Laminating with an optically clear film seals the holes and largely solves this, which is why we recommend it for outdoor and vehicle work.

Yes, on rear and rear side windows. It shouldn't be applied to the windscreen or front side windows, which must meet minimum light transmission levels. Check the requirements for the specific vehicle, and any operator rules, before installing.
