SwissQprint – Machinery Manufacturer Spotlight

swissqprint grand format printing machines

SwissQprint was founded in 2007 by Reto Eicher, Roland Fetting, and Hansjörg Untersander as a high-end UV inkjet printer manufacturer.

Their first printer – the Oryx – launched in 2008, a flatbed UV system perfect for producing vinyl, film, posters, and banners.

The Impala printer, launched in 2010, has a maximum print speed of 134 m2/ hr and a visual resolution of up to 1200 dpi.

In 2012, SwissQprint’s first 3.2-metre-wide flatbed printer, the Nyala, was launched with 9 colour channels for photorealistic quality.

2017 was a big year for SwissQprint, with the debut of UV LED technology, which offers higher energy efficiency, less waste, and a quicker curing process.

Today’s latest printers include the Kudu – their high-end flatbed – and the Karibu, their first roll-to-roll printer in 2019.

Other flatbeds include the Nyala. The Impala and Nyala models are at the premium end of the range and offer the unique option of roll-to-roll modification.

The Karibu 2 and Karibu S comprise the roll-to-roll range. They have integrated mesh and full bleeding kits to eliminate liner requirements. Both models print white ink, allowing you to print with varnish effects and blackout media.

Inks

SwissQprint printers use direct UV printing tech (UV inkjet inks) for multiple materials, including POS displays, wall coverings, signage, packaging, posters, billboards, backlit boxes, vinyl and films, and three-dimensional signage.

These proprietary inks are VOC-free and bond to any rigid material, including difficult ones like polystyrene and flexible foam panels.

Every SwissQprint printer has nine colour channels to go beyond CMYK, letting you use light cyan, magenta, orange, neon, and other colours.

SwissQprint’s Karibu roll-to-roll printer has the latest printhead technology to achieve 1350 dpi resolution while maintaining a rapid output of 212 square metres per hour.

Its cassette system, Tip Switch vacuum, and Mesh Kit streamline setup, changeovers, and mesh printing for maximum productivity.

Varnish effects, embossing, multiple textures, and neon colours are no problem, with precise control for multilayer printing on transparent films.

The modular Impala 4 flatbed excels in versatility and eco-performance with print quality up to 1350 dpi and a compact footprint.

It achieves up to 180 m2/hr output, which is ideal for demanding print providers. The Impala grows with your business – configure it initially, then expand colour channels and options as needs change. Roll-to-roll and board printing capabilities unlock new applications.

SwissQprint’s Oryx 4 is tailored for ambitious companies entering the grand format arena. This 1080 dpi flatbed delivers outstanding photographic print quality up to 90 m2/hr with 256-zone Tip Switch vacuum control.

Five additional channels beyond CMYK produce vivid banners, posters and speciality prints at an affordable price. As an entry-level print production system, it combines precision and productivity in a class of its own.

Manufacturing information

SwissQprint systems are made at the company’s headquarters in Kriessern, Switzerland, so all these printers have the glorious ‘Swiss-Made’ label.

They go further than many printer brands to ensure a low-carbon customer experience. Eighty per cent of their suppliers, providing over 90 per cent of all machine parts, are Swiss companies, and their UV LED printers consume just 2.2kW of electricity — around the same as a standard 3-pin kettle.

Innotech supplies a complete range of flexible wide and grand-format print materials for SwissQprint printers. Browse our complete range of digital print media here.
