Frequently Asked Questions

What is self-adhesive vinyl?

Sign vinyl is a thin, printable, flexible plastic with an adhesive applied to one side for installation on solid surfaces. It is cuttable to any shape and takes well to installations on all solid surfaces, including metals and some plastics.

What is sign vinyl made from?

Most vinyl is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) with an aqueous or solvent based acrylic adhesive. You can also get PVC-free vinyl made from polypropylene (PP). The liner is usually made from paper or PET (polyethene) film.

What are the different types of self-adhesive vinyl?

You can buy sign vinyl with a white or greyback, different adhesive strengths, air release liners and different surface finishes (e.g., matte, semi-gloss). You can also get specialist vinyl like window clings and one-way vision vinyl.

What are the applications of self-adhesive vinyl?

It is perfect for labels, lettering, wall graphics, coverings, vehicle graphics, signs, notices, and stickers. Any sound, smooth solid surface is an ideal application, including glass, aluminium, and steel.

How to install self-adhesive vinyl?

Prepare the application surface with a suitable cleaner. Peel off the liner in stages depending on the size of the graphic, stick the vinyl to the centre of the installation with a squeegee and work your way to the edges holding it at a 45-degree angle.
