Frequently Asked Questions
What is monomeric vinyl?
It is a self-adhesive vinyl film for short-term graphics, product labels, stickers and lettering, usually lasting 1-3 years outdoors on flat surfaces with permanent adhesive. Versions with removable adhesive are designed for more temporary use.
What is monomeric vinyl made from?
Most monomeric sign vinyl is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) with a solvent or acrylic dispersion adhesive. The PVC film is stabilised and calendared, producing a durable film that is UV-resistant and compatible with latex, solvent and UV-C inks.
What are the different types of monomeric vinyl?
You can get greyback and blackback vinyl, clear adhesive vinyl, high and low tack vinyl, and permanent and removable vinyl. Most products have a matt or gloss finish, and some feature an air escape liner for easier installation.
What are the applications of monomeric vinyl?
It is perfect for indoor and outdoor graphics installations that will stay put for 1-3 years. Over-lamination can further extend the lifespan and preserve the print quality. Typical applications include product labels, signage, and advertising panels.
How to install monomeric vinyl
Clean the application surface and peel off the liner. Stick the vinyl to the substrate and use a squeegee at 45-degree angles to apply the vinyl to the edges. You can use a heat gun to make the vinyl pliable, taking care not to overstretch the vinyl.
